We are a young and very dynamic project team based in Ilboru, Arusha. Our aim is to bring people from different backgrounds together to build a quality education system for children in primary schools all around Illboru.
We are currently placing volunteers from all around the world in many different schools all around Ilboru. With over 4000 students coming from difficult financial backgrounds, help is needed.

Basically all we do is to invite you to come and work with us in one of our schools in Ilboru. We pick you up from the airport and place you with one of our lovely host families. During your whole stay we will support you with whatever you need and ensure we find the perfect school for you to teach. We offer you the possibility to stay with one of our host families and experience Tanzanian life at its roots. We personally know all of the families we place our volunteers with and we guarantee that you will be "feeling at home" in no time. Depending on where your host family lives, your journey to the school can be a 5 to 40 minute walk.

Do you want to experience life in Tanzania yourself? Come and teach with us in one of our schools in Ilboru. We are very happy to organize a lovely host family for you and help you with planning your journey. We cooperate with different schools around Ilboru. Children between the ages of 3 to 15 are waiting for you to come and teach, play and laugh with them. We will make sure we find a class where you can fully utilise your skills, whether you are strong in languages, science or singing songs with our children.

Our Projects

In the paragraphs below you can find some information about some of the schools we currently support.

Engilageti Primary School

Engilageti is a charity funded day school that provides free high quality primary education to the poor children of Arusha region. The school was founded in 2004 by Anna Mollel, a local woman who is well-known for her outstanding work within the field of educating children. Engilageti is located in the Sanawari Area close to Idara ya Maji. At the moment the school provides free primary education to over 270 girls and boys aged between 6 and 13 years. There are 14 Teachers taking care of classes with sometimes more than 40 children per room. Engilageti also provides education to children with mental or physical disorders and guarantees each child two meals, breakfast and lunch.

Engilageti is funded by private donors and sponsorships from individuals and foundations from all around the globe.

Olturoto Primary School

Olturoto Primary School is a public day school located in Olturoto Village in the Arusha region of northern Tanzania. The school provides education for more than 560 boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 years. With more than 60 children per classroom and only 27 teachers this school is the most disadvantaged of all our schools. The school’s infrastructure isn't sufficient to host such high numbers of students. Apart from the usual lack of teaching materials such as school books, there is no space for desks in the classrooms. Most of the students that come to Olturoto Primary School are from the Waarusha tribe and without any means.

Olturoto Primary School is a public governmental school that urgently needs financial support as well as volunteers to cover for the staffing shortage.

Ilboru Primary School

Ilboru Primary school is a public school that provides free primary education to the children of the community of Ilboru. The school is located in Arusha district in Ilboru Village. It is a day school with more than 700 students and 34 teachers. The students are aged between 3 and 14 years and are sharing classrooms with up to 60 fellow pupils. There is a shortage of teaching material and most of the student's families do not have the financial means to provide school materials to their children.

Ilboru Primary School is also a public governmental school as well.

Ilboru Lutheran Primary School

Ilboru Lutheran Primary School is an English Medium Lutheran Public Primary School which was founded in 1997 by the Ilboru Lutheran church to provide a primary education to children around Ilboru area. The school is located in Ilboru close to the Ilboru Church and currently provides education to 142 students, 80 girls and 62 boys, aged between 3 and 14 years. In comparison to the public schools, this school offers classes with only 25 children per classroom with 12 teachers to take care of the students. The Ilboru Lutheran Primary School offers a nursery class as well as pre-unit for young pupils and provides each student two meals a day.

The Ilboru Lutheran Primary School is a private school that conducts all communication in the English language whereas in other schools the main language is Kiswahili.
