Volunteering Experience:
Hello, I’m Ralph L. Onumah from Liberia. Why did I do this training?
The mission of B4 Youth Theatre, Inc. is to empower young people to become educated citizens through the arts. Now my mindset is in the same direction to make the world a better place by using arts education as a tool for community empowerment, nation up-lifting through positive creativity, peace-building and problem solving that gives the less privileged and marginalized a voice in society and promotes and protects human rights and positive change.
Over my stay in the B4YT Arts Intensive Training, I have learned a lot through music, dancing, acting, how to change and create a unique environment for youth through creative core values. Through arts, I learned that is the simplest way to communicate a lesson or message of meaning across to others. By having a positive mindset, you can bring about positive change and global happiness; fear kills talents and buries positivity of the brightness of one’s mind. To become and to achieve all of this, you have to give your all to help make others achieve the victory over fighting temptation. I learned the value of partnership and collaboration between NGOs, government, etc is the best way forward when the aim is about change.
With what I have learned, I hope to accomplish the aims to promote services through civil engagement using the arts to lead, teach and mentor younger children in Liberia. With the importance of this training, I want to see youth embrace the arts as a tool for community empowerment, peace-building and problem solving and achieve this through unity and togetherness. I will see to it that B4 Youth Theatre’s goal is achieved in Liberia and the rest of the world as the teaching and thoughts of B4YT’s vision for children and youth is our aim and objective. I thank you.
