The Olancho Aid Foundation is an amazing organization, and I am so happy that I was able to spend 2 years volunteering with them. They are a tight-knit community, to say the least. I did not feel like a foreigner or an outsider. I felt like a true member of the family, and it was because of their open arms to welcome anyone there to help their cause. I'm passionate about their cause, too. In the Olancho area, there is a real education gap between the students who can afford private schooling and those who cannot. OAF reaches a hand down to those students who have the skills to succeed, but not necessarily to access to a quality education. I've seen first-hand what kind of impact this has on the community. It's incredible to be part of such a mission. This was an opportunity that helped introduce me to a foreign culture, but the wonderful people made me feel safe and at home. This is great for those looking to truly make an impact and be apart of something outside of their comfort zone.
