Organization Review

Overall Experience:
I had an fantastic time with Kenosis Foundation in South India. It was very interesting and every day was something special. I met a lot of amazing people; for an example all the kind-hearted women in the women groups and all the sweet children in the village and in the schools. I stayed at a Father's house, and I felt very welcomed. A got a nice place to sleep and the greatest food I have ever tasted. I learned a lot and I had a very good time with Issac R, who guided us around (for an example on his motor bike). He took us to many beautiful places. He is one of the most amazing people I have ever met. I hope to come back one day!

Dear Marie Your visit and involvement with our rural women and children project was amazing and impacts a lots. Many of the women who are in Self Help Groups ( SHGs) inspired, encouraged, and able to challenge that they can stand on their own feet through our kenosis Foundation supports. You and Lasse has made great impact in short while and they still remember you both and your families supports by small contribution has been really very supportive financially. You both have named two children and they are now called Luna and the other too. Thanks and we wish your future plan of becoming a singer and lasse a English teacher. One day, as our women said, you both must come back soon along with other friends of yours. As you know, we indeed really need of volunteers. Its not only volunteering, but its also internship opportunities and provides college credits through this programs. We wait to hear from your friends soon to join us and impact our projects as you impact their life. Its one life time experience, should not miss it. Regards issac Kenosis Foundation, India

Robert van den ...

I came from the UK and volunteered with Kenosis Foundation for 1 month in Bangalore, India. I taught computer and life skills to disadvantaged young adults aged 18-25 years old. This included the basics of hardware, software, typing, Microsoft Office, security, and the internet. I also taught the students how to prepare their CV, and how to perform well in an interview. When I first arrived at the centre, there were some technical issues with three of the computers, but I was able to resolve these within the first day. I enjoyed teaching the students, and they were all keen to learn during my lessons. This made delivering the content enjoyable. My biggest issue that I faced was the language barrier between me and some of the students. This meant I had to remember to speak more slowly and clearly. There was also usually another member of staff available to translate for me when necessary. I also had to learn how to plan and deliver lessons, as this was my first time teaching. On some days, the student attendance was poor, which was a little demotivating. My living arrangement was with Issac, the founder of Kenosis Foundation, near to the teaching centre. The house was a little too small for 4 people, although I did get my own room. Laundry facilities were also lacking, and I had to wash all my clothing by hand. I was, however, provided with plentiful and delicious food throughout my stay. Issac’s only transportation was a motorcycle, which I wasn't particularly happy about, as the driving standard is very poor in India. I feel that this program was very rewarding overall, and I would recommend it to other people who want to make a difference in India. Areas for improvement are the accommodation, transportation, and training before the project. I was given minimal training before I started, and I feel that some online training before I came to India would have been helpful. I was provided with some material to base my lessons on, and this was very useful. If anyone of you interested, please contact them immediately to confirm your start and end date of your volunteering participation.

Thank you Robert for your amazing work with young people to teach Computer and IT skills, preparing them with their CV, and Interview skills for a month to support them at personal level to boost their personal life with your own expertise, culture and language. The young people indeed had live experience with you and this must have helped them to think and plan a great future with their dream job to get full time job and a salaried job in the city of Bangalore. We appreciate your hard work, passion, kindness, and heart for our young people who really deserve your supports. I 'm Issac, as a founder and Director of kenosis Foundation, request you to recommend our projects to your friends. We welcome you again. Because, you have many friends, families , whom you recently got them as your own. You can come at any times and disturb us. Once again, I wish you a happy journey across India before you travel back to your home country UK.
