I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 weeks with Birendra and his family volunteering with the Nepal Friendship Society. I stayed at their house for the whole period, and volunteered at the local government school in Ganeshtan. It took me a few days to settle in to everything and the way things worked at the school etc, but once I was settled I really enjoyed spending time with the children and the teachers. Everybody at the school were great and very welcoming, every morning I felt very lucky to be there, and I'm already looking forward to going back again to see how they are progressing. I also helped teaching English to 6 young students in the Learning Centre which is based in Birendra's house, so it's very convenient. Classes were every morning Monday to Friday from 7-8. This was also a very rewarding experience and I hope that I can be apart of this group when I return again in the future. Birendra and his family were wonderful, and I met so many nice people all around that area, and I look forward to seeing them all again in the not so distant future! So overall a very rewarding experience for me, and I know the children and teachers were very happy to have me there. I'll definitely be going back!
