I still remember my first lesson at Touch The World. I was so nervous. Although I've had some experience teaching children at a free school in India, this was different. My students in Vietnam were usually same age as me (usually 20-25) and it was not something I had experienced before. The tutor team and my amazing tutors always helped me out planning the lesson, coming up with interesting activities and understanding how to better teach the students. The team of managers and the buddies look after you quite well incase you need advice on traveling around Hanoi or different exciting parts of Vietnam and give their unbiased opinions for you to understand the Vietnamese culture. As far as teaching goes, the teaching material provided by TTW is quite sufficient, if at all there are always other Forieng teachers (just like you) who will happily share their experience and the quick orientation has you covered. The apartment flat is shared by all the teachers which makes it an amazing space where everyone from different walks of life come and stay together and share the same joys of teaching English and much more! It was a home away from home with a family I could blend in with so comfortably. If you can cook, I would suggest getting some ingredients that are exclusive to your culture, country or geography. Trust me, you'll thank me when you feel home sick and can eat something familiar to what you're used to. The experience is so amazing and it opens up your mind to many different cultures and people. Having done volunteer work since in 3 different countries in the last 5 years I can proudly say none of those experiences have been as rich as the one in Hanoi with the Touch the world family! I didn't expect I would say this but this has been a life changing experience for me as a 23 year old. I'm absolutely stoked to return to TTW again soon. Thank you everyone at Touch The World. You guys have a special place in my heart.
