Organization Description
Vision: Empowering the Community.

Mission: Universal Healthcare and Education in a clean and green environment.

Our President and founder Dr. Sameer who inaugurated Shiddat Foundation and Charitable Society on October 24, 2011. Shiddat was his idea to give back to the community that provided him with facilities hence making him the Ophthalmologist he is now.

A team of members from differing backgrounds in the society came together to take forward his idea. The idea eventually took shape in the form of the currently running foundation, providing education to the impoverished and enabling the women with skills, giving them the confidence to stand on the same pedestal as their peers.
Keeping in mind how the environment plays a significant role in breeding the young minds, the foundation is also involved in environmental preservation projects along with the above.

Two main projects are in the running at the moment, of which, the "Street Children Education Programme" and "Rural Healthcare" programmes have been seeing much volunteers, both local and abroad.

*Street Children Education Programme*

To provide non-formal education to the poor through schools or otherwise smaller classes held at available locations ensuring every kid in the vicinity has access to basic education such as languages and mathematics via songs, games, pictures and a whole lot of laughter.

Volunteers: Engage with the kids via creative methods (Eg. Song and music, rhymes, games, etc) to get them to attempt Math and English. Some children may require assistance with basics such as learning to write with a pencil, using materials to color, etc.

*Rural Healthcare Programme*

Rural Healthcare Camps are part of this initiative to bring healthcare to regions that are unable to receive healthcare when much required. Currently we are working with the surrounding villages and have been visiting them monthly to provide free health check-ups and guidance on a better and healthier lifestyle.

Volunteers: Will be taught to use Blood Pressure Equipment, Basic First Aid, Blood Sugar Monitoring, etc. A qualified doctor will be present to assist with the activities and provide aid when required. Healthcare interns who might be applying can state if they would prefer to work with the rural camps or bigger hospitals so appropriate arangements can be made for during your internship.

With a team of a dozen members, and many volunteers both local and international, Shiddat is about to complete five years of service and many people to thank for.

During the past years I have been traveling a lot. People often ask me about my most valuable memories from my travelling experience. My greatest adventure didn’t involve fancy hotels or extraordinary nature, but simple meeting local people trying so hard to help those in need. I did a 6 weeks’ health care programme through Shiddat Foundation Charitable Society back in 2013, and even thought I have been travelling a lot since, my work and homestay in Faridabad are the experiences most important to me. India is the perfect destination if you sick a culture and environment completely different from your own, however, it can also be challenging sometimes. In my host family I found an openhearted home with room for diversity. They taught me hospitality in a way that I have never seen...
