Our Projects

Kids for School Project
Orphans and other vulnerable children in rural areas of Kenya are assisted with uniform, a meal a day and put in school. Future: to provide a milking goat so that as the child reaches Standard 8 (Grade 8), they have a small herd of goats that can in part support their high school education. Donations cover the cost of uniform, a meal a day and schooling costs. Future donations will go towards equipping the child with a milking goat. Children at the Center and around it meet every 2nd Saturday of the month for FREE character formation, grooming and life skills training.

Youth Skills Development
Makuyu Empowerment Center hosts a Karate Club where youth meet every evening for recreation. The youth also have a piece of land dedicated to teaching them key agricultural skills that are essential in a rural life apart from other sports like football, volleyball and indoor games. The primary goal is to keep them engaged, informed, well behaved and away from alcoholism and drug abuse that is rampant. Donations go towards purchase of Karate uniforms, home gym equipment (improvised), balls and board games. Every last Saturday of the month, the youth meet for FREE sessions for character formation, career guidance and counseling and life skills formation.

Women Empowerment Project
The women that gather at Makuyu Empowerment Center all have various difficulties in their lives. A good number are HIV positive, have a lot of children they are caring for HIV positive children, which is a huge task for them. Most are divorced from abusive husbands. We assist them with rent, nutritional needs and medication for three months as they learn a new trade at the Center or at a partner institution like Uzuri Institute, Thika, and become self-sufficient. Women hold a Women’s Open Day every 3rd Friday every 2 months.

Health Education
The key goal is to supply correct, timely and reliable health education in rural Kenya. This especially touches on the message of HIV/AIDS prevention, TB, Malaria and general personal hygiene to ward off diarrhea and other communicable diseases. We invite volunteer medics from across the world who hold seminars in the villages of Kenya teaching children, youth and adults. Your donations cover the cost of logistics, medication and drugs for the sick.
