Organization Description
Light of Hope for Orphans (LHO) is a community based organisation (CBO) registered with the local government to operate in the area of Iganga, Uganda. Light of Hope for Orphans was founded by Ms. Enid Akugizibwe, a children’ rights advocating activist for a number of years with a sole aim of producing the best out of the cast-off children; orphans, abandoned, very poor and vulnerable children in Iganga district.

Light of Hope for Orphans was started in 2012, but officially registered early this year. The organisation has grown to own its own primary school – accommodating now over 200 children. The school is still struggling to construct permanent structures to create a better and conducive learning environment for our children, in the near future.

LHO is currently being run by a team of 7 responsible adults, who have devoted their lives to making a difference in the lives of the poor orphans in this community, with whatsoever resources they own. The Organisation runs on a Christian foundation, with a specific focus as per our vision, mission and objectives.

Our Objectives are:
1. To build permanent structures for Nursery, primary and secondary schools where orphans, needy and community children can access the affordable education.
2. To build a home to provide a safe and better environment for the orphaned children.
3. To develop income generating projects to ensure the sustainability of the organization’s programs.
4. To conduct community outreach programs with the purpose of teaching people about sanitation, poverty, killer diseases, education, health, among others.
