Organization Description
Future Vision was started in 2014 by Lieve Claessen, who runs her own backpackers at Elundini near Hogsback. She saw the local schools/creches being understaffed and a more then 60% unemployment rate with people struggling to survive. For this reason she decided to set up Future Vision Volunteer Program with the intention of bringing in International volunteers to bring in the much needed extra help in the community.

The mission of the volunteer program is to encourage individuals from around the world to travel to South Africa and to learn about the people, culture and environment of the region through voluntary service. The program aims to recruit volunteers who can share their skills with members of the local community in a way that helps them achieve their own goals, without creating unhealthy dependencies or undermining the values of the local culture.

Volunteers can teach in the public schools/creches, provide assistance to income raising projects, implement projects to improve environmental conservation or conduct other activities that are appropriate to a volunteer's skills and the need of the community.

Future Vision Average Ratings
I will never forget the absolutely surreal time I had with Future Vision. It was a volunteer experience out of the ordinary and requires an open mind and a sense of ambition to say the least, as this project is really driven by the volunteer rather than day-to-day, hour-by-hour structure from the volunteer coordinator. Speaking of which, the volunteer coordinator, her family, and her friends are all people I will stay in touch with for the rest of my life and plan to see again in the very near future. This is a growing but powerful and impactful organization that deserves all the recognition possible.
