Organization Description
ASPIRE Training & Education, was founded in 2012 by me Samnang Sean, a local Cambodian, who recognized the urgent need to help the many destitute and orphaned children living in this country. This situation was brought about because Cambodia’s education and health care systems were completely destroyed during the Khmer Rouge Genocide and Cambodia has been unable to make significant gains in rebuilding it because of the subsequent 2 decades of long civil war. Now corruption is rampant and Cambodia’s education and health care systems remain in shambles. Siem Reap itself is one of the poorest areas in Cambodia with over 75% of locals living in poverty.

The ASPIRE is providing 24-hour care to 25 children who currently live in our orphanage, every month to donate 300kg of rice for 55 children from community and free education for them. They range in age from 4 to 16 years old, many have never been to school and are desperate for safe living in the community. We cook food for the children 3 meals a day and ensure all the children attend a government school. In addition, we run our own classes in Khmer reading and writing as well as English language lessons and computer skills. We also believe in preserving the Khmer culture so we teach children traditional Khmer dances and the art of playing Khmer musical instruments. Our staff are trained in good childcare practice and management skills. We aim to equip them both socially and academically to take up a constructive place in the future of Khmer society.

The program for volunteering 5 days or 20 hours per week from Monday to Friday, on the morning at 8:00 AM – 11:00 AM and afternoon at 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM to teach ( english lesson, computer stills, traditional Khmer dancing, cleaning area of school, to grow the tree fruits, pay football, volleyball, vegetable garden, raise chickens and fish pond ),...etc.

The ASPIRE’s future plan to build ( a dormitory for the children, accommodation for volunteers, computer classes, sewing clothes and a stage for performance of traditional Khmer dancing ). When all the projects are finished at ASPIRE, I am planning to build the houses and wells for extreme poverty families in communities around provincial of Cambodia.

We have established the project since 2006, but we are not funding for running cost of the orphanage. We are fully reliant on donation from visitors and volunteers, who come and give donations to support the children. The currently I have no sponsorship, making the provision of basic necessities very difficult. This is a NGO (Non Governmental Organization) so we don't have any support from the government. Now we are progressing step by step to build a dormitory project for the children and accommodation for volunteering, who donated from our volunteers. Also we will ask to all volunteers to raise money to pay for the material construction as ( Bricks, cements, steels, gravels, sands and fee for labours). We hope that you will be able join to help us to raise a good money for support this project.

NEVERLAND homestay the accommodation for volunteer to say, we have a house for them to stay, this house has two bedrooms (equipped with mosquito nets), two toilets, a shower and a kitchen. For bedding, we provide a bed or a mattress, a blanket and a pillow. There is an A/C in the bedrooms and a fan in the kitchen. We are requirement a volunteer to pay for 12 $US dollars per night for sharing room to pay for the electricity bill, food and wi-fi. The cook for volunteer 2 meals a day (lunch and dinner); this is real traditional Cambodian food that we cook for the kids in the orphanage as well. Also we will ask all volunteers to donate some money for feeding the children and raise money to build the dormitory project for the children of ASPIRE.

We have a good service for transportation, when volunteer arrive by plane to Siem Reap we can arrange for a tuk-tuk driver to collect the volunteer for a fee of $10 US dollars. We can also arrange a collection if arriving by bus. Our tuk-tuk driver is also able to drop and collect volunteer for trips into Siem Reap during the weekends and evenings.

If you would like to visit the Angkor Wat temples we have our own tours that help us to pay for some of the necessities of the orphanage:

Angkor Wat temples tour (Sunrise & small tour $20 US / Sunrise & large tour $25 US)

We would love your help at our orphanage as it would mean a lot to the children as well as the organization. We look forward to meeting you!
