Bio:
I am a 300 level student of microbiology with a strong passion for communication. I am a freelance reporter for Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Osun state. I am an On-Air-Personality at Great FM 94.5MHz. OAU community radio station, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Osun state, Nigeria I host a talk show called 'talk the talk' on the schools radio where topics like feminism, security challenges and youth empowerment through entrepreneurship are discussed. I also anchor campus news where stories and updates from universities in Nigeria are disseminated to students. I am a guest blogger for lukmanfassasinews.com I write articles about life lessons during my spare time which I publish on my Facebook wall. I love smiling, trying new food recipes, reading articles, giving pep talks, singing, attending formal events, children, arts and culture. I love listening to slow songs, traveling but I hate rowdiness. I love seeing life through rose colored glasses. I am a sensitive person and I switch my mood to adjust to any environment I find myself. Finally,I am a chorister at Christ Ambassadors Student Outreach (a campus fellowship) under the umbrella of the University Joint Christian Mission, Obafemi Awolowo University.
Volunteering Experience:
I have never been a volunteer before and it never really occurred to me to be one until recently(3 months ago) after I went through a phase in my life in which I lost my friends and even a relationship and during the process of my grieving, i gathered strength and what I learnt from the experience was that 'as clay, I have to pass through the furnace to become so hard that even when I get smashed against the wall, my broken pieces will remain in the sand of time'. when I published it on my wall, I got 16 likes. I was excited in the number of likes not because 16 liked my post but because I felt 16 people experiencing the issues I was going through in different ways but we were in sync by that quote. It is easy for me to contemplate suicide or hide my grieve within the wall of drugs and alcohol but I didn't do that but i searched myself to find strength. Most of the dangerous behavior experienced by today's youth can be avoided if they had someone to tell them 'i have been through this things you are going through and I found the strength to pull through'. the ages of 14 to 25 is very eventful for kids because a lot of things are beginning to happen and at a very fast rate too. that's the time when kids begin to have secrets and also make decisions that will shape them in the future. Some times, parents might not understand the issues going on in a child's life until maybe quite late when a lot of mistakes have been made. it is easy for some children to pull through a lot of pressures but for some it is hard especially in our generation where parents are ever busy. With a voice that sound alike as the children of today, I want teenagers and young adults to understand the power in their pain and use the strength to improve their tomorrow.
