Bio:
My name is Terra Kruse. I was born in a coffee shack in Kealakekua, HI, almost 45 years ago by very hippy parents. I was raised very poor and underprivileged. My mother raised two daughters in poverty, and gave one up for adoption. My father was not around. I went through most of my life surrounded by people in the same economic status as I was. When I became a teenager, I knew that there was more to life. I spent a lot of time surrounding myself with adults that I could help babysit in exchange for a clean home and food. At the age of 20 I became a mother. My son gave me the inspiration I needed to get out of the hard life I had been raised in. By the age of 25 I was a full time student and working for the Boeing Company. I have been working for the same company for 20yrs this December. I have had an amazing career, raised an amazing son that is in the Navy now, and because of the generosity of others became the woman I am now! Due to my background and upbringing I have always had people that helped me reach higher. My friends parents, teachers, counselors, etc. I have a natural ability to get people to work together, especially in hard times. I understand the help that volunteering can do for one's soul, because it was the thing that kept me out of the gutter.
Volunteering Experience:
I have done quite a bit of volunteering with the Boeing Employees Community Fund, primarily with beautification projects on women's shelters. Cleaning the grounds, painting, setting up swingsets, etc. I volunteered as the project manager for my son's Project Grad Night. A year long project to raise money for the high school graduates to spend a night together without drinking and partying. We raised 25K. I was a volunteer coach for my son's soccer, baseball and Cub Scout troops. I volunteer now with my grandmother's community gardening club. I would love to give back to a community in any way that I can. I enjoy building and gardening, but also would be interested in teaching English or computer skills to children and adults.
