Bio:
am 24 years old and recently graduated with both my Bachelors and Masters in Biomedical Engineering. My background is in engineering, problem solving, innovation, design, medical devices, and healthcare however I would call myself a "jack of all trades" in that I can easily adapt to all different types of work. I also constantly crave to learn from people...of all ages and types. In my free time, I love to hike, dance, walk around and explore new areas, paint, draw, and read. My career goal is to develop a NGO or some sort of social entrepreneurship venture whereby I can provide affordable and effective medical devices and products to developing communities. Firstly, my step to getting here is through immersion, Throughout my academic career, I have been actively engaged in my community and I believe that the best learning experience is through direct immersion into different types of environments.
Volunteering Experience:
I have previously volunteered at a Philadelphia, PA (USA) based NGO that provided after-school academic enrichment to students aged 10-18 that come from single parent households and have limited opportunities. In this program, I tutored students as well as developed activities and games for them to learn essential life skills. I have also previously volunteered at day care centers. In terms of healthcare, I have have ample volunteer experience in both government and private hospitals where I learned about healthcare and helped patients with daily tasks. In terms of agriculture, I previously volunteered in Costa Rica where we built a water storage system to retain rain water at a local farm. In addition, I have volunteered on a design team to built an agricultural dryer for East Java, Indonesia for a NGO called Kopernik. What I am seeking in an upcoming volunteer experience, is a chance to learn more about a new community that I have not been explored to and to add ideas to this community.
