Bio:
I am a recent graduate with substantial language experience, and I am interested in international development. I received two bachelors degrees from Johns Hopkins University- one in International Studies and one in Romance Languages. I also recently graduated from Stanford University with an MA in Iberian and Latin American Cultures. While the majority of my coursework deals with developing nations in Latin America, I'm also really interested in gaining exposure to Southeast Asia. I am half Vietnamese, and this region has a lot of personal significance for me.
Volunteering Experience:
As a high school student, I participated in a volunteer trip to Honduras in which I participated in renovating a school and rebuilding houses. I also was a member of Teens for Tzedek, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping young children improve literacy and gain access to reading materials. Additionally, as an undergraduate, I was involved with Hopkins Farmhands, an organization that harvested fruits and vegetables to be distributed to local food pantries. Further, as part of my sorority, I participated in CAR (Champions are Readers), a supplemental enrichment program aimed at improving reading outcomes for elementary school-aged children. After I graduated from college, I worked for United Way of Central Maryland, which is a non-profit that helps improve the odds for families facing poverty.
