Bio:
I am currently approaching the end of higher education and have decided to take some time out before I begin a career to explore the world and give my time to those in need. I have always taken part in charity events from a very young age. I began doing 10KM sponsored walks every year with friends and family at the age of 7 to fund money for various different charities such as the British Heart Foundation and Breast Cancer Research. My love for charity awareness soon developed further and I became the charity representative for my whole secondary school for 4 years. This meant that each month I was to organise a fund raising activity that all students and teachers could take part of to help raise money. This included: tennis matches between the teachers and students; bake sales; talent shows and student and teacher sports days. Volunteering abroad would mean the world to me because it combines my two favourite adventurers - going abroad and helping out! I'd love to be given the opportunity to volunteer abroad as I think it would not only help benefit the causes but also benefit me by broadening my mind, becoming more confident in myself and also it will teach me a great deal of skills for life.
Volunteering Experience:
For a year I volunteered with my local library to read to young children and help supervise the children. For two years I volunteered weekly in the Swaminarayan Temple to help clean around the communal area. For three years I volunteered at my local swimming pool to teach young children how to swim. For a year I volunteered at the gymnastics centre to teach young children basics.
Education:
Birmingham City University, undergraduate in LLB Law
Occupation:
Sales Assistant, Selfridges, Birmingham
Other Skills:
Lifeguard certificate.
Life savers certificate in the water.
First Aid certificate with St John's Ambulance
Completed gymnastics qualifications up to Gold
