Bio:
Hello! I am very interested in volunteer teaching in Vietnam next spring. I am a special education teacher at a very culturally diverse high school in San Francisco. After 17 years of teaching, this year I am taking a sabbatical . My plan is to do some traveling in the spring so I am currently researching volunteering opportunities abroad teaching or working with children. Last summer I spent three weeks in Thailand and absolutely loved it. My boyfriend's parents are from Thailand so we were able to visit with some of his family members. We also traveled all around while we were there and it was an amazing experience. Having experienced the day to day lives of his family members in addition to the exploring we did on our own left me with a good understanding of what life is like in Thailand. Through learning about such a different culture I learned a lot about myself and it left me craving more. Traveling on my own to a foreign country and doing something to help others would be a great next step. I have a lot to give and would greatly appreciate the opportunity to do so. Thank you for considering me!
Volunteering Experience:
I've done some volunteering teaching children how to read at a school near my home. I have always worked with kids, even as a young girl volunteering my time on Sundays to watch the children while their parents attended mass. I would go to neighbor's houses when I was old enough to be helpful and play with their young children. Life guarding and camp counseling were summer jobs I had before receiving my teaching credential. I understand children well and have always been a sought after care taker.

Master of Arts in Special Education
Occupation:
