Bio:
My name is Molly Eagan. Since I was child, I have dreamed of volunteering with children in Africa. I now have the time and freedom to pursue that dream. I have a Bachelors Degree, ten years as a journalist, five years helping the constituents of a U.S. Congressman navigate immigration and other federal agencies, and over 15 years as a childcare provider. This included a position as an arts and crafts and homework counselor at an after school Boys & Girls Club. I also have many years experience volunteering with children. I am now seeking a long term opportunity to work with women and children. I am mature, committed, and hard working.
Volunteering Experience:
I began volunteering during college, educating and counseling girls in abusive relationships. After graduation, I continued that work by providing child care in domestic violence shelters. I later trained as an advocate for foster children, and spent time playing sports and reading with them. During this time, I established a book donation and reading program for kids living in temporary foster homes. I've also been an unofficial mentor to middle- and high-school girls. Intermittently, I've helped serve food in soup kitchens and to people living on the streets.
Education:
Bachelors Degree from Sarah Lawrence College, Dean's Award for Community Service.
Occupation:
Freelance Journalist
Other Skills:
Tutor in reading and writing English, creative writing and other subjects
Advanced administrative skills, creating organized and efficient administrative systems
Advanced communication and advocating with government agencies, fundraising
Willing to do manual labor, like cleaning and cooking
