Bio:
I am a college student studying Social Work and Spanish, at Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana. I am wildly passionate about people; I want to do all that I can to help others thrive as best they can in their environment. I have lived amidst people who are struggling with their lives, and people who are unimaginably content with their lives, and I see how difficult but worth it is to strive for the latter situation even in the middle of difficulties. Because of this, I have spent lots of time volunteering, and I truly want to expand the ways I can help others into an international atmosphere. I have two younger sisters whom I adore, I spend my free time when not out volunteering by reading classic literature, and I love learning and practicing my Spanish.
Volunteering Experience:
Volunteer -- South Bend Center for the Homeless, South Bend, IN. Serving food during meals, babysitting children while their parents are taking classes at the center, visiting with residents at the center, and welcoming in new members of the center's community. 2013-Present. Volunteer -- Notre Dames Club, University of Notre Dame, IN. Leader of the philanthropic branch of this club meant to empower young women. In charge of organizing volunteer visits to Memorial Hospital of South Bend, IN to visit with and help serve women undergoing chemotherapy. In charge of compiling goods that will help the women at the hospital, such as blankets, food, magazines, books, etc. and delivering them personally. 2013-Present. Volunteer -- Nazareth House for the Elderly, Fresno, CA. Visited the residents of this community home to perform personalized song and piano concerts, play bingo, watch movies, have Halloween and Valentine's day parties, and aid nurses in serving the men and women there. 2008-Present (when home from college). I work as an administrative intern for the Development office of Saint Mary's College, which I attend. I perform office duties like filing, copying, editing, transcribing, etc. I am in charge of a donor outreach mailing each semester, which I oversee from the beginning, organize, complete, and send out. I help with event planning, researching donors and candidates for future donations, and communicating with current donors to promote a good impression of the college. 2014-Present. I also tutor Spanish at Saint Mary's College. I tailor tutoring lesson plans to multiple students each semester, in order to help them prepare for their assignments and succeed in their Spanish classes. 2013-Present.
Education:
Bachelor of Social Work, B.A. in Spanish, from Saint Mary's College, IN, exp. graduation May 2018.
Occupation:
Student at Saint Mary's College, IN.
