Bio:
My name is Melanie Carmona. I am 20 years old and currently am attending college at the local community college, Hillsborough Community College. Once I finish there with my associates I want to go to USF for my Bachelors and Masters. I also work at a non-profit organization called LifeLink, which is a company dedicated to the donation, transplantation and procurement of tissues and organs. And I love my job! It may not seem like much but my job is very important. We get the calls from hospitals when someone unfortunately dies or becomes brain dead and we try to match the people who meet the criteria with someone who may need one of their organs or tissues to live. So I am a big advocate on organ donation and I think everyone should register to donate! When I am not working or going to school I live with my boyfriend and our two cats and I am a very happy person!
Volunteering Experience:
I am seeking to volunteer with my boyfriend in other countries to help the less fortunate. I have always loved helping others and doing all I can to help people in need, because to me it seems unfair that my life is the way it is and others cannot have the same experiences or opportunities that I have because they are less fortunate. I have always loved the idea of volunteering and being able to volunteer in a different country would be the ultimate experience to me. I love animals and people and I am very good with them. Currently I work at LifeLink, which is a non-profit organization dedicated to organ and tissue procurement and donation. So my ideal line of work would be in the health or medical side since I have a little more background with that. Originally I started looking to volunteer because I have the entire week of Thanksgiving off from my job, so to me it would be awesome to travel to a different country, just for a week, and help those in need out. Other than that week, I also would love to go for longer projects and do other stuff to help.
