Bio:
I am a self motivated individual, interested in the development of the community. I find that my best moments are when I spend time talking and motivating communitie members. I can easily fi into groups, because it is eadsy for me to communicate with people. I find that working with communities for development rerquires patience and hardwork, which is a strength I poses. I work well with minimal supervision. The motivation that drives me is knowing that at the end of the day, my efforts go into making the life of another person better.
Volunteering Experience:
I have worked with communities in Nakuru county in Kenya. My main role was to facillitate table banking activities. This is a system where people within the same locality form groups and contribute their money, after which each member can borrow a certain amount from the group. This money is paid back at the end of the month with accumulated interests agreed upon by the group. I have also been involved in Church programs where we visited several children's homes. Our activities included cleaning for the children, cooking and playing with the children. Considering that this was a faith based visit, we also pray with the children and contribute items such as food and clothes for the children. I have worked with internally dispalced persons in Kenya. The main activity that I participated in was offering emotional support to the women and children. The children especially needed support to deal with the fact that they had witnessed the deaths of their loved ones.
