Bio:
I received my doctorate of physical therapy from Columbia University, New York, NY in 2005. I received my masters of physical therapy from Columbia University, New York, NY USA in 2002. I've been working for over twelve years in orthopedic physical therapy in New York city and eastern long island. My passion is for orthopedic physical therapy and helping people to move their bodies pain free. My other passion is for volunteer work in other countries. I enjoy living in different cultures and being a part of the community through my volunteer skills. I have also been teaching physical therapy courses to physical therapy students in Bhutan and the US. I find teaching to be meaningful work that is fulfilling and offering my skills to developing countries.
Volunteering Experience:
I recently was teaching from January - April 2015 at JDWNR hospital in Thimphu, Bhutan. I was an adjunct professor at the University of Medical Sciences of Bhutan lecturing two courses for the physical therapy department. I taught the staff physical therapists evaluation and treatment of orthopedic injuries and I volunteered as a physical therapist to evaluate and treat the patients at the hospital. In November 2009 - January 2010 I was a volunteer physical therapist at a free medical clinic at Namo Buddha monastery in Shamphati, Nepal. My volunteer work consisted of evaluation and treatment of orthopedic patients, and teaching the monks evaluation and treatment of orthopedic injuries, and I established a reference library for the clinic. I'm currently seeking volunteer experience overseas in developing countries where I can offer my skills as a physical therapist, teacher or in some other capacity.
