Bio: 
Dr Leonardo Mataruna’s key research interests are in the legacies of Olympic and Paralympic Games, Social Media, Sport Media, Mobile Learning, Sport for Peace, Peacekeeping, Innovation and new technologies for education and sport. He is a licensed 1st Lieutenant of the Brazilian Navy and is part of the Brazilian Judo Confederation. He attended, as part of the Judo team, the Olympics in Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004, Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012. He attended the Paralympic Games in Athens in 2004 as a coach, and Beijing 2008 and London 2012 as a journalist (commentator). He also attended the FIFA 2014 Football Cup, as a research scientist, and the Winter Olympics of Torino in 2006, Vancouver in 2010 and Sochi in 2014, as an observer. Dr Mataruna is part of Coventry University’s CTPSR and is a Visiting Research Fellow for the Advantage Program of Contemporary Culture (PACC) of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and the Universidad de Occident in Los Mochis, Mexico. Dr Mataruna has twelve years’ experience in Higher Education (Lecturer, Research and Management) and extensive knowledge of Brazil and Latin America.
