Bio:
I am a Canadian, English speaking professional teacher and administrator. I have taught in the Canadian school system for over 25 years. I am now retired and am looking for volunteer opportunities....I dont make a very good tourist! I love to travel, but rather spend my time experiencing the country--not just being a passive observer. I am a mother of one daughter, and am a single woman. I love to read, explore, and discover. I love to learn for learning's sake and wont to inspire others. Part of my passion is education for girl's and I am dedicated to that mission.
Volunteering Experience:
http://www.bootsnall.com/articles/12-10/the-alchemy-of-travel-volunteering-in-rural-india.html The above article is an article I wrote about my volunteering experience in India. It summarizes my incredible experience in that regard, and the impact that I had on a small community Southeast of Delhi in Madra Pradesh. I started off teaching english at a school, and somehow that experience grew to being instrumental in running a charity and starting an NGO. I would like to have a volunteer experience in education. Preferably teaching girls or women. This does not need to be formal education in a school setting. Running community based workshops or information sessions ( prenatal care, health, english, nutrition, child rearing, child development) are all dear to my heart.
Education:
I have a partially complete masters, a Bachelor of Education, and a Bachelor of Science
Occupation:
I am a principal, formerly a teacher.
Other Skills:
Excellent presentation skills, teaching, computer literacy, program development
