Bio:
"An Enigma, Wrapped in a Riddle, Cloaked in Mystery" I’m a Brooklyn native, born to a Mother of West Indian (Jamaica) descent and an African-American Father. After leaving NY in my early tweens, I was raised in the Washington, DC Metro area by my mother and my West Indian Stepfather. After graduating from Walter Johnson High School, (in Bethesda, MD), I spent the next 20+ years being a wife and mother, Community Activist/Leader, all while working as an Administrative Support professional. My time working at the Global Health Council in Washington, DC, was the catalyst that encouraged me to take a closer look at people with different socioeconomic backgrounds and how they deal with the ‘cards that they were dealt’. Additionally, I started to get a view of the various conflicts around the world as human problems, and as such, realized that there was an answer provided by human solutions. Thinking that the task was just too much for one person to handle, I put it off for a time, but the desire to “do something” kept gnawing at me. After sharing this growing and intense desire with a former co-work, I was encouraged to take up the mantle yet again, and investigate the possibility of going abroad and finding a way to utilize my skillset to give back to those less fortunate than me....which lead me here. My interest are varied, but include doing what I can to make the world a better place; peaceful (as possible) defiance against misogyny, ignorance, as well as racial and financial oppression; great food and good drinks, and the interesting people that they can attract; deep and profound conversations, (without being condescending/arrogant); honesty, poetry (writing and reading); books, (at one point, I had enough books to rival a small bookstore); dancing; music (Urban Gospel, R&B, Soca, Reggae are my go-tos); laughter; kindness, peace; love; happiness; and above all else – my relationship with Yeshua/Jesus and being a Child of YAH(WEH)/God.
