Bio:
I am Joana from Portugal. I have left my country 4 years ago to live in Denmark. I have been studying and working in a new country which allowed me to open my mind to different cultures and a different way of living. I have also lived in Northern Ireland during last year. Today, I fell I have friends all over the world. I am used to travel alone, not that I truly want to, but in the end, I always come back knowing a bit more about myself. I believe I became a better person from all of the challenges I crossed, both by living abroad and by travelling on my own, specially in China. I have a profound love for outdoors, nature and mountains, even though I live in one of the most flattest countries in the world. I love teaching, I have so much fun. It is a feeling of accomplishment when a student tells me thank you, I understand it now.
Volunteering Experience:
I have never volunteered besides the small projects at School and University where I gave my time to organize events and/or conferences. It is always great fun to be in a group of people and help constructing an idea. As my first volunteering experience, I wish to teach, maybe biology, maybe english, maybe math, whatever is found necessary. I have taught at the university level for the last 3years so I think I am ready to experience something new. But honestly, if my help is required in the kitchen or in construction, I can do that too. I have grown up always with a great influence from the outdoors, farming and small construction projects were always a joy. I wish to help by giving my time and expertise the best way possible.
Education:
Master in molecular biology
Occupation:
PhD in molecular Biology
Other Skills:
teaching, english or biology
hiking, climbing, mountaineering. I own a few certifications and have a huge love for nature
