Bio:
I am currently a fifth grade reading/ language arts teacher serving students in Forest Park, Ga. I grew up in Brooklyn, Ny and moved to Georgia to attend college. I attained my bachelors degree in Middle Grade Education 2012 (majoring in English, minoring in Social Science) at Clayton State University. I then went on to gain my Masters degree in Reading, Language, and Literacy at Georgia State University. During this time I have been able to understand the difficulties that many students endure due to their living circumstances and how it affects their learning and retention of academic skills. I have also learned strategies, especially in the areas of reading, to help students to overcome their adversity in order to academically thrive.
Volunteering Experience:
I have previously volunteered at with teachers in the classroom from grades kindergarten through eighth grade. I have also volunteered at the local Humane society in my community during my teen years. I am seeking volunteer experiences mainly in education and/or working with children in lower socioeconomic communities. I would also like volunteer experiences with animals because I love working with and learning from all animals.
