Bio:
Hello there! My names Isatou Cates and I am currently in my second year of a Psychology BSc degree at The University of York. I see my degree as the major stepping stone to perusing my dream-career as a Teacher. Although I am currently undecided as to specifically which specific subject/ age group i'd like to teach this uncertainty has made me even more open-minded and I look forward to gaining experience and trying out many different options to discover my preferences. For the moment, i aim to embark on as many work experience opportunities as possible, and am also driven to help others in the process, through volunteering, charity etc. I also intend on using the skills and knowledge gained throughout my years of studying, working and volunteering to enter the labour force as a prepared, focused, young adult with a stimulated mind.
Volunteering Experience:
York Students In Schools - Voluntary Teacher's Asisstant - This included shadowing a number of KS3 teachers in a secondary school, helping students around the class where needed. During some sessions i was responsible for a particular Special Educational needs (SEN) student Into University - Voluntary Academic Support Worker - This included helping Key Stage 2 students complete homework tasks and assigning extra tasks when necessary in an extra-cirricular setting Cancer Research UK - Volunteered as a Cashier & Sales assistant for a Cancer Reseacrh UK Charity store. I also sorted and prepared donations on arrival. CURRENTLY SEEKING: IVHQ - voluntarily teaching children English in Morocco for 1 week.
