Bio:
I am currently a student at the University of Warwick but grew up in London in a strong Church community. I have experience in retail work, bar work and office/admin work. I have also gained experience in child-care by babysitting/child minding for the past 6/7 years. I am good at organising my time as I have, in the past, worked several jobs at once in order to afford to go travelling. I have always loved travelling and have been across both Western and Eastern Europe, Cambodia and Vietnam and large parts of South America. However, I also think it's important to work with the local community on these trips rather than simply visit the countries. My friend and I have organised a trekking holiday in Nepal, however I would love to come a month earlier and work within the community to better understand the country itself. I have basic level French and learnt a decent amount of Spanish during my time in South America (I have an Intermediate Level qualification), and so would be more than able to pick up a basic level of the local language.
Volunteering Experience:
In 2014 I volunteered for two and a half months in a Nursery in Cochabamba, Bolivia. I went out by myself and stayed with a missionary and local family, picked up an adequate amount of the language and formed strong long-lasting friendships. I think that, as I did in Bolivia, I would be able to successfully integrate into the community and work with the local people well. Throughout my life I have volunteered, helping teach in Children's Church which has also improved my ability to work with children. I have also volunteered in homeless shelters in Leamington Spa and so am used to working with more difficult individuals.
