Bio:
My name is Freyja and I am a half Icelandic, half Australian currently living in Iceland. I have recently finished my bachelor of mechatronics engineering and before embarking on my masters I would like to spend some time travelling, learning more about the world and its people and help those who are less fortunate than I. I am a native English speaker and have good skills in arithmetic and programming so can teach any of those skills and for those who are interested to learn some Icelandic I'm also happy to oblige. I am a traveler at heart, have been to many countries and plan to go to many more, I enjoy nature, hiking, sports and meeting new friends.
Volunteering Experience:
My volunteering experience is limited but I have volunteered twice before and loved it both times. My first volunteering experience was in 2005 in Cambodia building an accommodation edifice for the women of the then only rural university in Cambodia. The experience was very rewarding both due to the accomplishment of the building that we were able to leave behind and due to the friends I made in Cambodia. The second volunteering experience was in a Chinese forest with an organization called Earthwatch. In this instance I was located remotely in a forest and was collecting forest samples for assessment of native vs planted forest. Currently I am very open about the type of volunteering that I perform, whether it be teaching English to children, something physical like construction or whether I use my skills as an engineer to help out. I'm full of energy and open for anything.
Education:
B.Sc. Mechatronics engineering
Occupation:
Engineering consulting firm
Other Skills:
Good organizational skills
Competent in programming
