Bio:
Hi, My name is Emmely. I am 19 years old and I am in my second year in college. I am currently bouncing off majors not quite sure what exactly I want to do for the rest of my life, what I do know is it involves science. I live with my mom and sister, and my dog gigi. I live my life by being kind to others and hoping that I will receive the same treatment back, although that is not always the case. I feel as though I have taken my life for granted, I am trying to something about. My mom always talks about how her life in Guatemala was, before coming to the sates. I couldn't imagine leaving behind everything and everyone at young age the way she did. So I worked hard in High School, joined sports team and earned myself a scholarship to The University of Rhode Island, to study Marine Biology. But after a year there, I didn't think I had what it took to be a marine biologist after failing Biology, so I left and went to community college instead to put more thought in what I want to major in. I also worked at various jobs, like in the dinning hall, The Salvation Army, Starbucks, a retail store and now at The Rhode Island School of Design. That's where I got the idea that visiting other countries would be a great experience, I met so many students there from all over the world, Mexico City, Korea, China, Russia etc... I've never met anyone from across the country it was fascinating. That's why I'd like to volunteer for a group to be aware of whats going on around the world, yes I watch the news and documentaries but I'm not there to actually see what is going on, I'd like to see it for myself in person not be told by others.
Volunteering Experience:
I have very little, volunteer experience. I did volunteer work once in school. I was part of the buddy system my senior year. The Buddy System was about partnering up with kids who had mental or physical disabilities and making them feel welcomed to our school. It went on for about a 5 months, I learned a lot the kids I worked with also made some great friendships. I would like to continue what I did at school, it was a great feeling seeing them smile and them remembering my name, because a lot of the time they did forget but to know that I actually did do something right and made an impact on them is good to know.
Education:

Occupation:
Cashier at The Rhode Island School of Design
Other Skills:
Great at working in a team or a group
I am friendly and easygoing
Great Communication skills
I put others before myself
