Bio:
In 2010, I lived in Israel for a year volunteering in impoverished neighborhoods with youth and families. I was part of a team that helped create community activities as an attempt to improve the quality of life in the neighborhood. From 2011-2013, I began a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Acting at the University of Illinois, and after two years left to get citizenship in Israel and serve in the Israel Defense Forces. My service was two years long, and I was a commander in an Education Platoon that ran a GED course for soldiers that never finished school. Our soldiers came from a diverse background, many dealing with severe learning disabilities that had never been explained to them, and many had not finished school in order to help sick family members survive financially. I taught civics and politics, and was an advisor for alternative teaching methods for soldiers with learning disabilities. In two weeks, I will be starting a volunteer program in Nepal, working with women, children, and on reestablishing agriculture and infrastructure after the earthquake.
Volunteering Experience:
I'm seeking volunteer experience that deals with medicine and health clinics. I'm very interested in public health, and educating populations on health issues in their communites. I'm also seeking volunteer experience working with wildlife conservation and environmental protection.
Education:
High School graduate, Deans List university student
Occupation:
Student
Other Skills:
first aid training
presentational skills
interest in medical clowning
musician (guitar, ukelele singing)
