Bio:
My name? Edwin Scott. My goal? To be a world renowned orthodontist. Growing up, I've always had a big heart and a passion for helping others, but most importantly my parents always taught me to value those you love because you can't replace people. I didn't quite decide what I wanted to do with the rest of my life until the end of high school, but I knew I wanted to treat/help others in any way I can. With that being said, I decided to attend an HBCU primarily focused on community service, Xavier University of Louisiana. Receiving my Bachelors of Science degree from a top 10 HBCU had to be one of the most exhilarating feelings I've ever had. To say, "Mom! Dad! I did it!" was great. My four years at Xavier University were a challenge, but my best trait is that I welcome any challenge. I know there will be many more challenges I have to face but I am ready for them. When I volunteer, I try and gear it towards helping our youth. I love to see kids learn, grow and excel because there is no better feeling than to see someone exceed in something you taught them. I always keep in mind that sometimes the smallest things have the biggest impact.
Volunteering Experience:
My first volunteering experience was with Communities in Schools (New Orleans, LA) as a mentor. As a mentor I was responsible for being a listening ear to my mentee and to provide him with the bet advice when necessary. I was to meet with him once a week to check in and ensure everything was okay. Essentially, I was another out of school role model. My second volunteer experience is with Baton Rouge General Hospital (Baton Rouge, LA) assigned at the ICU desk. As a BRGH ICU volunteer, I was responsible for keeping track of patients visitors and escorting patient families to and from patient rooms.
Education:
2.60 GPA, Hard working, determined, focused on success thanks to Xavier University of Louisiana.
Occupation:
Server at Logan's Roadhouse
Other Skills:
Critical Thinking
Interpersonal Skills
Communication Skills
Creativity
Administration
Logistics
Organization
Spatial ability
