Bio:
I am a man of many talents and interests. Most would find this unsettling, however, one of my most sincere beliefs is that for as many people there are in the world, there is that may ways to live your life. I studied journalism and communication for five years and loved it three. In the fifth year as the senior photo-journalist at the oldest newspaper in the Caribbean region ( The Nassau Guardian) , I decided to switch careers to work in the field of rehabilitation after witnessing a boy walk for the first time at age eight, while on assignment. That day changed my life forever and still fuels me today. In the year 2014, I decided to take the biggest leap of faith in my life and boarded a plane to Ireland to study to become an Occupational Therapist Assistant. it was a leap because I had no money, not much contacts and it was an entirely new country. When I landed, I was met by the only contact I had, but was still prepared to do what ever it took to follow my dream of becoming and OTA. In the end, the one contact I had would be my salvation and so I lived and worked in her home and the homes of her friends as a butler. I completed my certification with mostly distinctions and I am now an COTA. I have a deep passion for rehabilitation and working with those who have some how lost a piece of themselves through injury or are operating lower than their potential because they are ability challenged ( not disable). I believe words are powerful. Rehabilitation is my true life's calling and I would simply like any opportunity to use my insane amount empathy and healing ability.
Volunteering Experience:
I have volunteer experience in a number of areas. I have worked with the national rehabilitation center in the Bahamas as a rehabilitation specialist for four years consistently. I have worked with elementary school aged kids, teaching creative writing, art, photography and English. I have also worked along with a local library facilitating Saturday activities in art.
