Bio:
I am a 46 year old male, currently employed as a Training and Organisational development officer. I am a B Com financial management degree graduate, but never really worked in that field. My experience is mostly in Postal Operations where I worked as a Control Postmaster managing a number of Post Offices. This can be related to the work of an area manager where you are responsible for managing everything from people, budgets and other resources. In my current position of Training and Organisational development officer I am responsible for Course content development, Training presentation, Assessments and Performance management training, monitoring, assistance and advice. I am also involved with a culture change project and an e-learning project. As a family man I am the father of 3 children aged 25, 22 and 17. The eldest are no longer living with us while the younger two are attending University and Secondary school respectively. I run 5km on average two days a week for exercise and take part in races at least twice a year. I am also interested in hiking and rock climbing, although I do that very seldom.
Volunteering Experience:
I have little previous volunteering experience apart from doing service for my church youth group. This involved mostly teaching the gospel and for two years I have been the caretaker of the youth group. I also served on my churches parish council which involved preaching and supporting those with various problems in their lives as well as helping out with the management of church affairs . I also served on the financial committee of the parish. At work I am part of a group who actively solicit donations for the needy which are distributed by our company as a social responsibility effort. I am looking at volunteering in any capacity where I can make a difference. This may include Support services for other volunteers, Teaching basic English, Teaching Computer literacy, Financial literacy, Economics, Business management or Management skills, or any other subject excluding Mathematics and Science as long as course material is available. I am also willing to assist in Management a facility, Organisation, Planning, Scheduling, Staff training, Child care, Driving, Cooking, etc. My main aim/focus is (in order of importance) to help people improve their lives, to be useful to society, to grow my experience, to practice my skills and to meet other people.
Education:
B Com Financial management, Certificate in Vocational Education and training, Supervisory certificat
Occupation:
Training and Organisational development officer
Other Skills:
Managing, Driving, cooking, Child care.
