Bio:
I am interested in volunteering for the next several months in order to add to my resume and gain new skills. I have participated in several long term international internships in the past and feel confident living/working in new countries. I have recently completed a BA in international development Studies and a Msc in International Defense, Development and Diplomacy. I am looking to spend about two months volunteering. I am especially interested in learning skills having to do with grant writing/ applications and working in areas regarding environmental sustainability or gender equality.
Volunteering Experience:
I completed an internship with Tomorrow’s Youth Organization, a non-political and non-religious NGO based in Nablus, in the Occupied Palestinian Territories. Over the course of this internship, I was responsible for the monitoring, evaluation, implementation and overall design of two unique classes intended to teach psychosocial skills to children living within the four refugee camps of Nablus. Additionally, I was also tasked with comprehensive reporting on the outcomes of these projects. In this capacity, I reported directly to my immediate supervisor as well as the country director. This position required the ability to think creatively and adapt to new and challenging situations quickly while maintaining shifting priorities. i also I completed an internship with Challenging Heights Ghana, an organization which rescues, rehabilitates and educates former child slaves. In this capacity, I took the lead role in facilitating and organizing a children’s rights conference for over 100 children and educators from the local area. It was my task to oversee all logistical elements including venue and participant selection, task allocation and reporting. Additionally, I worked with other interns to secure donor funding. I was also responsible for the monitoring and evaluation of this project. Additionally, I completed field research in Nepal on post conflict reconstruction efforts. Finally, I spent four months last winter volunteering teaching English to children ranging from grades 1-8 in Surabaya Indonesia. While there I was responsible for completing lesson plans, working with students on an individual basis and teaching classes. Additionally, I taught at an after school English club and held after school classes for teachers and staff at the school.
Education:
BA International Development Studies, Msc International Defence, Development and Diplomacy.
