Bio:
I am currently a student at the University of Pretoria studying a bachelor of education in the Intermediate Phase, specialising in Maths and English. I am outgoing and loud and love to be around people and give hugs just because! I am from the small city of Pietermaritzburg in Natal, I love going on family holidays, especially to the Drakensberg and spontaneous weekends away with my friends.
Volunteering Experience:
During my high school career we were provided with many opportunities to join in community projects. I was part of a group of girls that went to a family home that fostered children, I went to this home every week for 5 years. I joined in the SMILE programme which involved teaching grade 5 learners English (It is an English Literacy programme). For my grade 11 year I was part of the Umgeni Hospital programme where we participated in one-to-one therapy with the mentally disabled patients. I also joined in the supporting of a creche where we went once a week to play with the children and we assessed what the creche needed and did what we could to provide them with what they needed and the support materials that they needed. I am looking for volunteering programmes that involving children and youth and helping them to develop in all aspects of life. I am looking for short term programmes that I can participate in in my varsity holidays. I am also want to learn from the programme, either about different cultures, languages.
