Bio:
Junior at Holy Cross Academy High School in Delran, NJ. Work as a cashier for Panera Bread Co. Play softball for my High School. Play keyboards and violin. Am a vegetarian. Love to do special effects make up. Have done special effect make up for several videos and costume parties. In the past have been heavily involved in cheerleading, gymnastics and basketball. I plan to major in Veterinary Medicine in college. Am currently looking at several colleges and taking college tours to determine the right college for me. My parents are divorced, but they have a great relationship and I spend time between both homes. I have an older brother. My father is from New Jersey and my mother is from North Carolina. I was born in Virginia and lived in Colorado for several years before my family moved to Southern New Jersey, where I now live.
Volunteering Experience:
I am a 16 year old High School student in search of global volunteer opportunities. From the time I was a little baby my father volunteered in the community. He fought for people who could not fight for themselves. He is a committed human rights and civil rights activist. His passion for volunteerism rubbed off on me (but not my brother). I am a vegetarian because I believe in animal rights. As an 8 year old, I spoke in front of our City Council about the inhumane treatment of animals in their Animal Control Department. I also volunteer with my church, helping the elderly and sick get meals and medicine. I volunteer with the homeless and the less fortunate providing meals, clothing and toiletries. I spend my holidays at shelters and help people who are less fortunate. I was the President of a local human rights organization, where we did community health outreach and testing for HIV/AIDS. I am also on the Executive Board for another community organization that provides assistance to local families and students, from helping pay their utility bills, to helping them travel to compete in sports when they don't have enough money, to helping local business who have fallen on hard times, not lose their buildings. The Executive Board decides who should receive funding and how we should work with them. I have been volunteer minded my entire life and would like to take my volunteering global. While I understand there are places in the United States that need good volunteers and am willing to help them, I also know sometimes it is easier to help those that are not from your home area and they often appreciate it even more.
