Bio:
My name is Katie Miner. I am 18 years old and have lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for my entire life. I am a good student, and simply try to be a good person. I believe that life is best lived when an individual tries to be a little bit better today than they were the day before. I have built a life upon success not from drastic achievement, but by determination to be my best self.
Volunteering Experience:
My volunteer experience has all been community based. I have completed 150 hours of reading tutoring with English Second Language students, many of which were recent refugees. I have also worked extensively with Title One elementary school students, teaching them art skills such as ceramics, dance, and drawing. I volunteered with a family in our neighborhood who has a daughter with undiagnosed down syndrome and recent surgery due to a burst appendix and cared for her and her three siblings while their parents dealt with other medical issues. I am involved in community activities such as Chanukah at the Utah State Capitol and other events. This past fall, I organized a benefit concert for the curesearch for children's cancer research. I have been to many places in Europe and traveled rather extensively inside the US. I care about people and I have a lot of valuable skills which I want to be able to share.
Education:
High School Senior- I will graduate on May 27th with a 3.99 GPA and a 34 on the ACT.
Occupation:
none
Other Skills:
Babysitting
