Bio:
I am Astrid Morgado, a 20 year-old Chilean from Valparaíso. Although calm, I’ve been very active and social from a young age, always enrolled in extra classes and activities aside from school, that continue throughout the summer months. These include martial arts, various dance styles, and languages. I consider them to be an important part of my life, as it allows me to connect and become friends with people from different ages, backgrounds, and nationalities; making the learning process even more fun and interesting. They also allowed me to become persistent in any activity and develop the ability to communicate easily with others. I enjoy facing new experiences and challenges, they not only make you grow and mature, but also help you expand your world and beat prejudice.
Volunteering Experience:
I’m looking forward to my first time volunteering. This idea started during my exchange year in the Netherlands that began in 2013, where I had the opportunity to live with local families and become great friends with classmates, as well as other exchange students from various countries. There I realized that a deeper contact with the world is much better than being just a tourist or a student abroad. Last year, I began studying History at University, which I’ve decided to put it on hold for 2016 to become a volunteer abroad, as I strongly believe that longer-term experiences are more productive and constructive.
