Bio:
My name's Anthony, I'm a creative 18 year old that's currently infatuated with art and poetry and music. I like doing things that can help me better myself and also help others around me. I've always wanted to be the person the people around me go to for advice or help and I realised that in order to do that, I have to be everything those people around me can't be. So I make it a conscious effort to always be polite, understanding and do whatever is in my power to act wisely and calmly in any and all situations. Because I know that perspective is the most important thing in life and if I can change people's perspectives from one of negativity to prosperity then I'm happy. I like basketball, R'n'B, Rap, Cooking (because I'm kinda good at it), I like socialising and experiencing new things. I create artwork for starting musicians and as humbly as I can say this without sounding like an egomaniac, I think my work is good. But the most important thing anyone should know about me is that I'm a christian, I'm happy with my faith and I believe it's God that gave me the perspective I have today, that a boy like me can overcome any obstacle. All I have to do is be cool and get it.
Volunteering Experience:
Currently still volunteering at a youth centre in Winton, Manchester. The place is crazy, the kids there have been exposed to too much, too young and it's sad to see the effect their past experiences have had on them. The "program" is set up in three parts, first we have the games that my team organise and an assortment of games like table football and pool/snooker. When this segment is over, the kids sit down and listen to a talk and in the end everyone takes part in one massive basketball game or another game we've organised. This creates a fun, safe environment for the kids where they can hear more about God and eventually change. They've came a long way from the hyper active trouble makers they used to me and almost of dozen of them gave their lives to Christ. Building a relationship with them and becoming someone they can rely on has been rewarding. I've answered difficult questions and my patience has been tested to a new degree but in the end, volunteering there is ultimately rewarding. They used to break car windows, now they discipline each other and this growth is something I want to share. I know that it's vital to reach kids like this at an early age to show them that there are people that care and although the world may seem like one massive pile of malarkey, organisations such as this and the people I've volunteered with really care.
