Bio:
I'm a 20 years old student who was born in Sweden, and then came back to Italy with his mother when their parents divorced. I've studied languages at high school (on this matter, i didn't know how to put it in the list since it only have 3 spaces, but I have B1/B2 level in French as well), and then moved to Padua for a year to study Psychology and Neurosciences. Then on the second year I've had some personal problems that didn't allow me to go back there and continue studying, so, I've decided to take a gap year and spend it in something useful for both me and others. I've always been interested in helping others, both directly (voluntary work) and indirectly (political activism), and I'd love to make this interest meet with the chance of working abroad. As my father is an engineer for the scandinavian's airline SAS, I've had cheap flight ticket since I was little, and this gave me the opportunity to travel a lot and get used to the type of skills needed to live overseas, such as being indipendent and flexible and communicating with people that might not share any language with you. This will also let me get low price tickets for as soon as the day after I decide to. Among other places, I've been 3 times in England at summer schools, 1 month and a half in Thailand (since my father married a thai girl) and lived 2 months in Berlin by myself. As for my personal life, I'm a pretty normal person:when I'm not out with friends, I like to read or stay on the internet watching films, listening to music or maybe studying whatever interests me in that particular moment with those free courses that are popping everywhere on the web these days. I love animals and children (I'd love to work with them), and I'm interested in every kind of humanist subject (from literature to anthropology, from sociology to languages), anything that can give me a broader image of a person or a culture and their own way to interpret the world around them, and I hope a something direct as a volunteering abroad project will further my knowledge in this area.
Volunteering Experience:
I;ve been in a local social/political organization for a few years before moving away from my city. With them, I organized a library (each one of us had to work a half day per week there), various events of any kind (from book presentations with the author to political demonstrations), a number of services such as a free lawyer and dentist and a on demand market with products of farmers of our region, and most of all a free school for poor children from 6 to 13 years, where i worked 3 times per week for 2 years with the primary school ones. When volunteering abroad, I'd like to spend my experiences working in childcare or teaching projects, or in a wildlife/cultural preservation one.
