Bio: 
I am a sophomore Biology major at Howard University in Washington, D.C. I am studying biology now so that I can hopefully become a doctor one day. I am mostly interested i service work with children in education and healthcare; from teaching children to read and write in English to how we should properly wash our hands. I dream of becoming an OB/GYN and part of that comes from my passion for educating people of safe sexual practices, self love, and the promotion of anti-rape culture. I love to travel and meet new people! I am a very hardworking person and I get along very well with people from all walks of life. I just spent the semester studying in Istanbul, Turkey and it was an amazing experience to be introduced to several unique cultural in one beautiful country. I am Ghanaian so having a unique culture of my own and living in the US where diversity is everywhere makes me proud to always have something to share about my background as I learn something new about the cultures all around me. I am very excited to volunteer this summer and I hope that you will be glad to have me.
Volunteering Experience: 
Intern Department of Health & Community Wellness, Newark, NJ June 1-August 1 2015 I worked under the medical director of the FQHC where I learned to schedule patient appointments, send prescriptions to pharmacies, and file requisitions. I also shadowed the primary care physician and the infectious disease physician as they saw patients and gained valuable experience in the medical field. “Condom Fairy” Planned Parenthood, Washington, D.C. September 2014- Ongoing Promote safe sexual relationships by educating peers across campus on the proper use of male and female contraceptives. Head of Recruitment ANKH Literacy Initiative, October 2014- Ongoing Tutor elementary school children in literacy, financial literacy, and African history in DC. Mentor/Team Leader Peer Leadership, September 2011-June 2014 Provided guidance and academic support to the incoming freshmen by hosting weekly support meetings with my mentees where we created goal oriented action plans. Treasurer Key Club, September 2010- June 2014 Managed the profits from major events such as the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and the Aids Walk. Tutored children after school at a struggling local elementary school.
