Bio:
I am currently studying biology, chemistry, and psychology at University; however, I am looking to take a year off and volunteer abroad. Some of my hobbies include reading, photography, and volunteering. I would say that I am an easy going, independent, and compassionate person. I love giving back, and helping to bring sunshine to other peoples lives!
Volunteering Experience:
Volunteering is a key part of my life. I have volunteered at hospitals for five years, performing various tasks. I started out working with nurses to clean rooms and make patients comfortable. I then moved to comforting families in the waiting room while their loved ones were in surgery. I also joined a team where we helped to fundraise for the hospital, run different events, and gave gifts out to patients in the hospital on holidays. Once I went to college, I switched to a hospital focused on providing therapy and care to individuals with neuro and spinal cord injuries. Here I volunteered in the physical therapy gym, and helped to run various yoga/workout classes for those in wheelchairs. I also volunteered as a coach at a soccer organization, helping to coach children 3-11 years of age. One of my favorite experiences is volunteering at the junior science fair as a judge because I love to see all of the budding scientists! I have also helped to run an event called "Back to School Extravaganza" in my home town, where we provide underprivileged children with school supplies for the upcoming school year as well as a fun day at a carnival. 2 years ago I volunteered at a rainforest restoration program in Puerto Rico, where we helped a team rebuild trials and learned about environment sustainability. I am seeking to gain insight into another culture while pursuing my passion of volunteering! I love working with/playing with children; however, I am open to an opportunity of any type.
Education:
I have a high school diploma, and have completed some college.
Occupation:
Qorker at Disability Services Program on campus
