Hello I am a second year nursing student currently working as a CNA in Denver. I am looking for a volunteer position where I can build my nursing care skills. Currently I have been trained in vital signs, vaccinations, wound care, aseptic catheter placement, IV line placement, physical assessments, diabetes management, 36 hours of clinical mental health, labor and delivery, basic life support/CPR, along with medication pharmacology. I would really like to be placed with an organization that performs rural health care and one/all of the following: home visits, immunization campaigns, HIV/AIDS home care visits. I have experience working with refugees in Colorado and would like to continue working with this population at home and abroad. Prior to nursing school I worked in a Immunology laboratory for 7 years. I work well under high stress situations and prefer to work in a challenging environment
Volunteering Experience: 
Denver Health Emergence Department, 50 hours of volunteer service 2005-2006 -Assisted in the ER with patient comfort and care. Spoke with families, helped to keep them informed on updates. St. Joseph’s Hospital, Effiduase Ghana, 8 days, July 2006 -various hospital tasks, patient care Rocky Mountain survivor center, 2009, 12 months -Assisted refugees with paperwork, computers, and various other tasks. At home ESL tutoring for a disabled refugee Lutheran family services -2010, 3 months -Assisted a refugee family with transportation, grocery shopping, job applications Global Health Connection, Denver CO – 2011-2014, 2 days per year -Judge bi-annual Water challenge for Colorado 6th graders Flu Clinic- 10/20/2015, University of Colorado hospital, 5 hours, administered flu vaccinations DAWN clinic-2016 - Current Volunteer, I work as a Nurse at this clinic where I see patients who have no options for insurance. This is an undeserved population in Aurora and Denver, CO. I also am a member of the reproductive teaching team at this clinic, we provide education to the community and patients. Red Cross- March 2016 -Current volunteer, training for the disaster relief team, respond to local emergencies such as house fires, floods, etc.
