Organization Description
Safisha Africa Welfare Foundation is a non profit non governmental organization working as a charity in Kenya to support the vulnerable children to access quality education in the urban slums and settlement areas. The organization provides direct support of feeding program, education materials and facilities, enrollment and education to the children who need it most. When you talk about vulnerable children you are also talking about women who are parents or guardians of the vulnerable who need help.

Most of the children we support come from hurting backgrounds where we have either a father or no parent at all for them to depend on.Some are orphans and other from backgrounds of inherited poverty where either a mother or father has no permanent job. Some single mothers give in into prostitution to get just meal for the children which cannot educate a child.Safisha Africa empower the poor in the community to alleviate poverty .Poverty is a major constraint affecting the status of women and children. The Kenyan economic growth of high cost of basic food, basic services as health and education places enormous burden on poor families of which children and women are victims of these circumstances.Children born in slums and settlement areas need special protection and support. It is with such great challenges to the poor that Safisha seeks to recruit volunteers to give skills and support the poor who are exposed to high risk.

The volunteers will work for 6 hours a day assisting in child care, drawing, teaching those who don't know how to write in the books to do so;sharing resources of any kind to the vulnerable. We have an organization project of the school where we enroll the vulnerable all the time they run to our rescue and so we always require support to give direct support to the children from the community.

We arrange to come and wait for our volunteers, page and receive them at the airport and bring them home safely.

Any volunteer who needs more information should feel free to ask from us and we will freely give the information requested.

My volunteering during the summer 2015 with Safisha Africa was the greatest experience I’ve ever had. Alice, the director is an impressive and hard working women who runs by herself a lovely education project for poor children and orphans in Nairobi, Kenya. I had a great experience teaching English and Math to baby and nursery class. I had the challenge to find new ways to attract the children attention to improve their learning. This included adding games, stories and dance to our daily sharing. The kids are full love and gratitude. There is so much I learn about myself while sharing with them. But, the experience was not only about the school, but how I got to interact as a family with a set of other volunteers. This was also very exiting! I had the privilege to share with 5 other...
I had a great volunteer experience with Alice at Safisha Africa. Alice is a trustworthy and admirable woman and her school is full of students that love and respect her. Alice is warm and welcoming and she has a big house that is the perfect size for everyone. I had plenty of personal space and privacy. Her family is very friendly and we all ate every meal together. When I was volunteering, there were lots of other volunteers in and out, so we all got to know each other really well and even ended up traveling together, so it was a great community environment. And Alice is very supportive and understanding if you're feeling sick or if you want to take a day off of teaching to go on safari or something. It was a wonderful, life-changing experience and I'm so happy to have a...
