TThe PAAJAF Foundation (Providing Adolescents and Adults Job for Advancement in Future) is working on behalf of underprivileged children, youth and woman in rural Ghana to end poverty and illiteracy through education and job training. PAAJAF Foundation is a registered NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) with a Certificate of Recognition from the Government of Ghana – Department of Social Welfare in Ghana – Certificate Number D.S.W./4003 and Register General G21, 781.

THE NEEDS:
We are looking for an unpaid teaching volunteer’s position in our Educational program at PAAJAF Educational Institute (PEI): www.peischool.org , also to the schools in our community – Gbawe. As well as health care volunteers and afterschool program coordinators.
Interested teaching volunteers will be teaching preschool children, primary school children and adults in our adult education project at PAAJAF and in schools in our community. In our pre-school and primary school settings, children work around a range of self-initiated activities and adult-led focus groups. Their learning covers the following six interconnected areas:

1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development
2. Communication, Language and Literacy
3. Problem Solving, Reasoning and Numeracy
4. Knowledge and Understanding of the World
5. Physical Development
6. Creative Development

In addition, children take part in the following classes outside this setting:
Physical Education, Music, ICT, Library

Your volunteering experience will help our local school improve the education we are able to provide to our students, by bringing new teaching methods and experiences into the school and by sharing your culture and background with the students and teachers. In addition, this will build your personal capabilities and be an asset on your CV. During your time, volunteering with us you will have the opportunity to meet new people, learn about our culture and customs, share ideas with us to improve our organization and travel the country. If you complete your volunteer position successfully and abide by our rules and regulations, you will receive a certificate at the end of your placement on any volunteer position you will apply for.

As an interested health care volunteers; if you are a qualified nurse, you will be able to work alongside the nurses and help them in their day-to-day tasks. You will also be able to share ideas for improving the health services currently being provided, and replace any absent nurses. If you are a qualified doctor, you will be able to assist the doctors at the local health clinics too. You will be able to observe the way the doctor’s work in this community, and provide them with suggestions for improving their service. And as a afterschool program coordinator too, you will be coordinating our afterschool program.
