The sanctuary currently cares for over 120 primates, comprising of Marmosets, Squirrel Monkeys, Tamarins, Capuchins, Barbary Macaques, Crab-Eating Macaques, Rhesus Macaques, Patas Monkeys, Grey Mouse Lemurs, Mona Monkeys, Tenrecs and Fennec Foxes.

Most of our animals are ex-pets or ex-lab. As they are not indigenous and often have behavioural problems they can not be returned to the wild and caring for them is very hands-on.

You can stay from 1 week to several months, the cost for 1 week is 175 GBP.We are open all year round and we are always happy to accommodate volunteers; whether you're a student who needs experience in working with animals, someone on a gap year, seeking an adult career-break or simply looking for a different holiday experience, you are welcome to join us as a volunteer.

Everyone at IPR is friendly and willing to work together for the betterment of the monkeys. The work can be hard and many times messy but all in all it is fun a rewarding. You get to work with several species of monkeys and on saturdays you get to participate in monkey time where you pick an enclosure to go in and spend some one on one time with a monkey of your choice. The food is simple and the accommodation is modest dorms.
