Global Forum For Development - GLOFORD Uganda is a youth focused not for profit Advocacy, Development and Research organization which was founded in 2009 and registered as District Based Organization (DBO) with Lira district Local government on 7th April 2010 but was again registered in 2015 with Uganda National Bureau as a National NGO. The organization now works in Lango sub region and currently in Dokolo and Lira districts. The organization has a vision of raising a new generation of purpose driven professional, inspirational and democratic leaders for Africa with global perspective. GLOFORD’s mission is to work together to shape the destiny of our generation through empowerment, partnerships, research, leadership development, innovations, creativity, and entrepreneurship while building democratic and accountable tenets for meaningful sustainable development.

GLOFORD Uganda now has profound experience in human rights and governance sectors. In 2014, GLOFORD together with Lira NGO forum and Lango Samaritan Initiative won a two years project funded by United States Agency For International Development Governance, Accountability, Participation and Performance-USAID GAPP program. The project was designed using the Youth parliament module and implemented in Lira and Amolatar districts until April 2016 when it was officially closed. The project dubbed Community Empowerment for Good Governance (CEGG) aimed at enhancing the capacity of communities and the youth in Amolatar and Lira districts to actively participate in local governance, demand for improved quality service delivery and hold their leaders and duty bearers accountable.

GLOFORD is also implementing Youth in Governance and Leadership (YoGAL) project in Lira Municipality and 2 sub counties of Lira district. YoGAL is funded by USAID GAPP. The project has an overall objective of contributing to youth empowerment for increased youth participation in Local Government planning and development processes, Leadership and accountability in the sub counties of Lira, Barr, Lira Municipality (Adyel, Ojwina, Railways and Central Divisions), Lira district by October 2016. In a budget policy and financing coalition with Lira NGO Forum and other civil society organisations, GLOFORD is benefiting from capacity building and joint civil society actions to Strengthen Local Government Financing and Accountability through the funding from Civil Society Budget Advocacy Group. Through the financing from SNV Netherlands, GLOFORD is implementing a three years Improving Water Supply and Sustainability (I WAS) in Lira and Dokolo districts ending in 2017. The rural water governance project is targeting 8 sub counties, 340 rural water sources and 85,000 water users. GLOFORD also implemented Youth Voice I project with funding from National Democratic Instituted. The project contributed to increased capacity, effective representation and civic competence of 1,963 (M=60%, F=40%) youth and youth leaders in Lira Municipality, Lira District January 2017.

GLOFORD has good record and experience in Human rights work. Endowed with experienced and highly motivated staff in the field of Human rights, democracy and development; the organization is seeking to expand youth empowerment projects to other districts within Lango sub region as it continues to mentor and shape youth and development concerns in the Lango sub region, Uganda and Africa.

Based in the same compound as the Lango NGO Forum, GLOFORD's experienced leadership and their long-standing relationships with development leaders throughout Uganda offer great insight into how civil society can contribute to improved governance and government accountability, public health, and livelihood opportunities for Ugandans.
