Organization Description
Friendship Foundation Nepal (FFN) was established in 1991 by a group of enthusiastic young Nepalese people. We had and still have the intention to help in the development process of Nepal through voluntary service and to introduce Nepal to the outside world through deeper co-operation. FFN is paying efforts to create unique voluntary opportunities for the Nepalese and international youth and has successfully hosted more than 3000 international volunteers in Nepal. The organization emphasizes the importance of international youth exchange and voluntary services.
So our missions are coordinating voluntary relief activities in disaster effected areas, assisting in development and construction programmes utilizing various voluntary services, organizing various activities in order to minimize environmental imbalances and consequences of natural disasters and strengthening world peace and international friendship through voluntary service.

As an organization we offer various projects starting at one or two weeks up to several months.

1. Workcamps : Since 1996, we established many Workcamps in and around the Kathmandu Valley, right now there are 7 different. Volunteers usually stay here for two weeks or more within a group of young motivated helping hands. In the camps you can do different types of work in accordance with your preference. You can help reconstructing damaged schools and community houses in areas which were harmed through the earthquake in 2015. You will work physically with the Campleaders and the local community. You can also join our Reservation projects in the beautiful Chitwan National Park. There you will plant new trees, destroy harmful weed and create firewalls. Furthermore, we want to improve a security fence that protects the forest and start campaigns to gain more environmental awareness among the local people. (Minimum stay 2 weeks)

2. Teaching: You can work in a government or private school. You will mainly teach basic English to children between the ages of 6 and 15. However, the schools are often in need for more teachers, so it also is possible to teach Computer Education, Sports, basic Mathematics, Science or the culture and language of your home country. (Minimum stay 2 months)

3. Child care: You can combine this project with the teaching project. In the morning and evening, you take care of the children. Help with their homework, chat, play sports, music and games. When the children leave for school, you can go as well in school and teach there several subjects as described in "Teaching". (Minimum stay 2 months)

4. Medical Internship: Our most recent project is located in Namuna community hospital in Lomjung. You can stay there helping and assisting the doctors on their daily routine. Also you can get an insight in the dental clinic. For this project it will be the best to get you known to plan your stay as useful as possible according with your skills and interests. (Minimum stay 2 months)
